Is there a limit to the number of custom BB codes you can have on a site? Does having a lot of BB code bog down the site? If I delete a BB code that was used in a post, will the post end up with random BB code tags or will it show just plain text?

So many questions. But here's why:

I have members who like to post using special colors for dialogue. But, of course, when I change the skin in the future, the colors that work now may be eye-searing on a new skin or might not show up at all. So I was thinking of allowing any member who wanted special colors to have a custom BB code tag for their character. That way I could change it in the CSS when the skin changes and keep the colors looking decent.

But let's say that I have a hundred members all with custom BB code tags . . . I don't want to damage the overall site, you know?

Also, let's say somebody goes inactive and I delete their custom BB code tag. I don't want to end up with a bunch of [random tags] floating around the text [/random tag]. Because people go back and read old threads, even if the members are gone.

(I don't think I need to link my site in this account, but just in case: https://flickeringdarkness.jcink.net/index.php?act=idx)

Thanks in advance.

I am trying to install an older skin on my site. It looked good until I switched my URL to HTTPS and then the right-hand information on the top bar disappeared. (The part where in the preview it says "Search" and the icons and the username.)

After a bit of light reading to resolve this issue, I saw that if the site uses javascript hosted in a non-encrypted site, it won't be able to function on the HTTPS. Yeah?

This particular skin has javascript at "http://youdot.s1.jcink.com/getElemsByClass.js" but I've never seen a s1.jcink (only b1.jcink). I tried to change it to jcink.net but it didn't work.

Then again, I could be barking up the wrong tree.

Not sure if you actually need to see it in action on my board; if you do, let me know and I'll make a test account.

I converted someone else's CFS-based skin to templates. However, the PM button doesn't work. Here's what goes in my "Main Profiles" template:

CODE
<div id="new-profile">
<center><table><td><div class='profgas001'><!-- |avatar| --></div></td><td><center><table><td><div class='profgas003'><div class='profgas002'><img src='<!-- |field#2| -->'></div></div></td><td><div class='profgas007'><!-- |field_1| --> is <!-- |status| --></div></td></table><div class='profgas006'><div class='profgas010'><div style='color: #<!-- |field#10| -->;'><!-- |name| --></div><div class='profgas011'> <!-- |pm| -->// <a href='/index.php?act=Search&CODE=getalluser&mid=<!-- |id| -->&type=topics'>topics</a> // <a href='/index.php?act=Search&CODE=getalluser&mid=<!-- |id| -->'>posts</a> // <a href='<!-- |field#8| -->'>application</a> // <a href='<!-- |field#9| -->'>shipper</a></div></div></div><div class='profgas004'><div class='profgas005'><table><tr><td><div class='profgas008' style='color: #<!-- |field#10| -->;'><!-- |field_3| --> years old</div></td><td><div class='profgas009' style='color: #<!-- |field#10| -->;'><!-- |group| --></div></td></tr><tr><td><div class='profgas008' style='color: #<!-- |field#10| -->;'><!-- |field#4| --></div></td><td><div class='profgas009' style='color: #<!-- |field#10| -->;'><!-- |field#5| --></div></td></tr><tr><td><div class='profgas008' style='color: #<!-- |field#10| -->;'><!-- |field#6| --></div></td><td><div class='profgas009' style='color: #<!-- |field#10| -->;'><!-- |field#7| --></div></td></tr><tr><td><div class='profgas008' style='color: #<!-- |field#10| -->;'><!-- |last_activity| --></div></td><td><div class='profgas009' style='color: #<!-- |field#10| -->;'><!-- |posts| --> posts</div></td></tr></table></div></div></td></center></table></center>
 </div>

Here is what it looks like (live link to the board): https://bluewindows.jcink.net/index.php?showuser=1

The PM link is the random code under the username. Thanks.

I thought I'd try my hand at converting CFS on a pre-made skin (not mine) to HTML template, and it appears that I might have broken it http://files.b1.jcink.com/html/emoticons/tongue.gif

Board: https://bluewindows.jcink.net/index.php?act=idx

(The skin in question is called "Gasoline" but I don't have it set as default because I'm just trying to install it.)

But alas! My links are gone! Not sure what I did, but help is appreciated. Attached is an image of where the links should be.

EDIT - actually now that I managed to somehow get a direct link to a topic, I realize that none of my topics are showing period, and that's why they're not appearing on the main forum.
