I've replaced post macros with trigger warnings in the acp macro menu. I would like to display them on the post. It works fine on the default post layout, but when I try to include the !-- |post_icon| -- variable inside the template, it doesn't display.

I checked the default HTML for post layouts and it is present. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

http://covet.jcink.net/index.php?showtopic=4&st=0&#entry4

CODE
<a name='entry<!-- |pid| -->'></a>

<div id="post-<!-- |pid| -->" class="post mg-<!-- |g_id| -->">
   <div class="post-title">
<div class="title-left">
    <strong><!-- |name| --></strong> <!-- |post_icon| --> <!-- |post_date| -->
</div>

<div class="title-right">
    <!-- |report_link| --><!-- |delete_button| --><!-- |edit_button| --><!-- |quote_button| --> Permalink
    <span class="modbox"><!-- |mod_checkbox| --></span>
</div>
   </div>

   <!-- |mini_profile| -->

   <div class="postcolor">
<!-- |post| -->
   </div>
</div>

(Yes, I know it's ugly, I haven't finished styling the post layout yet)

My suggestion: Another text input box in the add/edit forum page of the ACP where users with ACP access could add links in a standard format, e.g.:

CODE
<a href="#">Link Title</a>

Then, through some hocus pocus on the forum's part, it would prepend those links to the subforum list (without subforum macros ofc).

My reasoning: Right now, the only way to display links to a specific thread on the forum rows is to include the link inside the forum description. With the new HTML templates making customization such a breeze, it would be nice to include links to threads alongside the subforum list so everything can show up together/be styled together.

Hiiii John!

I'm trying to make my life easier by making a base skin set that uses macros for things like board links, and found a bit of a stumble when making a macro for
CODE
<a href="index.php?act=Login&CODE=03&key=<!-- |auth_key| -->">Log Out</a>

I know this is not really important in the overall scheme of things, but I think it would be really useful if <! -- --> commands could be used inside macros.

Either that, or if you could make a default macro for all forums that contains a link & auth key for logging out/registering, like:

CODE
<{AUTHREG}>
<{AUTHLOGOUT}>

Is it possible? Way harder than it sounds? I'd appreciate hearing back regardless. Thanks!

So, the first thing I would like to say is I'm finally getting a chance to really dig into the custom HTML templates and it's so amazing. I seriously love it so much. Everything works beautifully, there are so many variables for customization, and it doesn't flicker on page load/cause any lag.

I love it. That isn't an understatement.

That being said... the one problem I have ran into is the inability to use a reformatted quote/code script. All of the scripts I've used in the past call upon specific table/tr/etc combinations to run a replacement. In custom HTML, those selectors just aren't working anymore? Maybe I'm understanding it incorrectly, and if so, I'd appreciate an explanation in laymen's terms if I'm missing something simple. But for the moment, I can't get any of them to work, and it's making me sad.

I think it would be amazing if we could customize the HTML of the code/quote boxes, with the addition of a few variables, such as the ability to call a code or quote ID number similiar to the < ! -- |post_id| -- > format. IE., code#1, quote#5, etc., for ease of use with javascript events.

I've been struggling for a few days now trying to make custom code boxes with click-to-copy functionality. The whole time I've been fighting with it, I couldn't help but think, "I wish this was as easy as making an HTML template!" So, if that could potentially become a feature, I think it would be well received - not just by me, but a lot of people!

Link: Test forum

I saw on another support post from 2016 where John & a user named Dusty showed another user how to use clipboard.js on their skin.

I've been trying all day to get it to work on my private forum and it's not happening. I was hoping someone could help me understand so I can get it to work.

I've tried
  • installing the clipboard.min.js file from both the src and dist folders
  • linking it from 3rd party CDN provider
  • taking examples directly from the documentation
  • putting the script in the head tag
  • putting the script below the body tag
  • spamming button repeatedly going "y u no work tho"
I'm seeing this error on the console view but I don't know what it means.

Any help would be appreciated. Losing hair over this. :/
