Lately our forums were attacked with porn spam, so i had to turn all of the security features on high. It's been a few weeks since the attack so i have lowered them back to normal, but for some reason it won't let new users register.
Now, i know the only two places for registration are Secruity & Privacy --> restrict new registrations? and that is turned to no. Also, i am requiring no validation whatsoever for registrations and it still doesn't work. Am i missing something else? I am certain every single little thing that would ban someone or restrict them from registering is turned off, what else can I do ?? Users say they can fill out the registration forum, but after they register, they get the message where they are permitted from using this board. You'll have to be more specific about what the exact error is.
What about banned email addresses? How about banned usernames? Does not sound like a bug, more things need checking into. So moving this to support. -------------------- |

yea i checked every single security feature possible, nothing. i tried myself to register and i got the same message.. so i just dont know whats going on thats why i put it under bugs basically what happens is, u register, new username pass all that stuff, then after the registration is done, it doesn't register the name and gives them the banned message -------------------- |

How about the banned IP list - are there any stray spaces in it, or wild card IP addresses?

hmm, maybe thats causing it. i have a huge list of banned IP adresses since the porn spam, but i've moved them all under the e-mail adresses section to save them (but not have them banned) and try to sort that out.. but still have them available incase a porn attack comes back from the same people. there was one 'stray space' in it, no wild cards though.. but i fixed the stray space.. and is that what was causing registrations to malfunction? Sometimes the spaces can cause it, yes. It could also be some of those IPs in the email area that you just cut & pasted.
Solved though I guess, so marking it off. -------------------- |
